Ask the Contractor: 'Clean' squirts will have you singing in the shower - The Daily Courier

I am back to singing in the shower. Shower update: Your emails and phone calls about the shower cleaning episode, event and experience brought many smiles to my face. By golly, I am not the only one who has tackled this squeaky affair.

Sherry called to let me know that, after every shower, “they” wipe down the glass doors, clean the shower head and squeegee the heck out of the unit.

“Sherry, it sounds as if more than one is taking a shower — how does that work?”

“Sandy, the last person taking the shower cleans the shower.”

“Sherry, I would never want to be the closer on the shower cleaning, regardless if the water heater had cold water, I would be first in and first out.”

We did laugh.

Joanne L. called to tell me of a product they use called Clean Shower, and indicated it is a miracle spray and after every shower, they mist and squirt Clean Shower all over. I am kind of liking this solution of spray and squirt, so the last one in and out of the shower would not have to squeegee and wipe and polish.

Joanne shared with me that the product is sold at two of our local grocery stores. Last Saturday, I made the early morning sprint to stock up on Clean Shower. At store No. 1, not a bottle of Clean Shower anywhere. Store No. 2, same outcome. Price labels were on the shelf, but not a bottle in sight.

I had to make a quick trip to another large-volume store and having to ask for directions to the cleaning product aisle, way up on the top shelf I spied a bottle of Clean Shower, just sitting there out of reach and practically out of sight. The product label on the lower shelf was void of the cleaner.

Now I am 5 feet, 8 inches and, of course, on a Saturday morning was not wearing my usual three-inch heels; flip flops were the shoe of the day. In raising my hand and standing on my tippy toes, I was about four inches away from grabbing the last bottle of Clean Shower, possibly in all of Yavapai County. What is a girl to do?

When I left home Saturday morning, in search of Clean Shower and picking up my purse, I thought to myself, “Wow, this is heavy. I must have tons of loose change at the bottom, and really need to empty out the gold mine when I get home.” No other thought as to why it felt like I was carrying around 10 pounds.

Standing in front of the cleaning aisle, looking up at the top shelf, I plopped my purse on the floor, because I was going to jump and grab. As my purse hit the ground, it fell over and out rolled a beautiful heavy tape measure that we were using in the Boot Camp class. No wonder my purse was so heavy. I had been transporting this device back and forth to the classes.

Aha! I unfurled and expanded the tape, made a huge arch semicircle bend with the tape, just like the contractors do, and snagged the neck of the Clean Shower bottle and gingerly pulled it off the shelf into my hand. Success!

I will say, I love that stuff! After every shower, I spray and spritz and smile when that fine jet of liquid comes through the nozzle. Shower attack. Soap scum be gone. It is working and is even sparkling!

Thanks, my lovely readers. This weekend I am in search of a few more bottles of Clean Shower. Forget the vinegar, the ammonia and the bleach, I am in love with Clean Shower and, boy, oh boy, I am singing in the shower, and the tape measure ... will become a part of my purse content, which is way better than wearing a tool belt.

MacGyver would have been so proud of me, using an everyday object to tackle a hard-to-reach object.
